Finding the most sophisticated images available is much easier than you could imagine.

Follow these simple instructions and the world's largest, most respected resource of scientific, medical and technological images will be at your fingertips.

How to search by KEYWORD

When you click "Keyword" on the left panel, you may enter one or even several keywords for your search. It's important to note that the Phototake search is not case sensitive. You may use the words "and," "or," "but not" as separators.

For example, if you want to search for a mother with an infant, you can begin your search with "infant and mother, but not father."

How to list KEYWORDS

When you click "Alphabetical" in the left panel, you may then browse by the first few letters of a keyword. Please note that the search is case sensitive. The first letter of the keyword is always upper case. A useful hint: entering several letters increases the search speed.

How to find an image by NUMBER

When you click "Numerical" in the left pane, you may then enter the image number for full viewing. However, you must be a registered user to view the image.

How to browse by CATEGORIES

When you click on "Categories" in the left panel, you can then select one of Phototake's major categories in the right panel. You can continue by selecting "Subcategories" until you find the results you want. You'll be amazed at how fast and easy Phototake's browsing procedure lets you find the right image!

Saving images to the "LIGHTBOX"

After your search query is successfully completed, up to nine images at a time will be displayed. You'll see that under each image is a check box labeled "Save to Lightbox" - but the check boxes will appear only if you are a registered user and signed in (See Sign On Page for details.)

If you would like to place an image in a personal lightbox, click the checkbox, and then click the button entitled "Add Marked Images to Lightbox."

The Browser will then ask you the name of the Lightbox - you may save images to an existing Lightbox, or you can create new ones. You may then browse through the images by simply clicking "Next" or "Back" buttons to return to a page with marked images.

Ordering images

You must be a registered user to order images. To register, click "Register" on the left panel.

To order an image, first preview the selected image by clicking on the thumbnail image. You may click on a thumbnail image in any search results or lightbox screens. On the preview page, scroll down until you see the Ordering Information link. Click on the link and fill in the Image Request Form, or call us at (800) 542-3686 during normal business hours.
